A BIT OF MARTEN BACKGROUND

Marten or "red eyed devils" as they used to be known are a fairly newer variety in which variations in colour and marbling effects can be found with distinctive red eyes.

-

Marten was discovered in Europe in 2008 by René Bastiaans, he then named it RED or red eyed devil.

Once the rats were imported into the U.K. in 2010, they were renamed ‘Marten’ to remove any stereotyping that the European name would give them.

-

We are delighted to have bought a few in to start our own lines and colours including the fact that a couple are also Rex, another first for our breeding plans!
